A few nights ago I watched the Depp v. Heard series on Netflix. I knew nothing about their story given I avoided the trial at the time. All I knew was Amber Heard is an actual BPD case (not just a girl who loses her temper sometimes), and that she apparently took a shit on his bed.
I dated a girl with Borderline Personality Disorder for 2 years and have a BPD case in my family, so I’m quite familiar with these people.
I never claim someone has BPD lightly. I’ll often see guys claim a girl is “BPD”, but if you poke around a bit, it usually just means she’s a High T Woman, a nymphomaniac, has a quick temper, or a spicy personality. None of that means they necessarily have Borderline Personality Disorder. Throwing that diagnoses around loosely is unfair to the people who have to deal with actual BPD cases.
As I was watching Depp v. Heard, I realized there isn’t a spectrum of BPD. You either have it and exhibit all its traits, or you don’t have it at all.
Watching Johnny Depp talk about Amber Heard felt like he was describing my ex-girlfriend. Yes, she was that crazy. Because she had BPD.
This is the experience of dating someone with BPD:
One second you’re being treated like Jesus Christ himself, the next you’re Satan incarnate.
The flick can switch at any moment, based on nothing, and there’s nothing you can do to console them.
They’re often high IQ or excellent at emotional manipulation.
They’re natural entertainers. Their energy has an innate magnetism. They know how to pull you in and put on a show.
BPD cases select specific targets who are the cause for all of their problems and simultaneously their savior. They blame you for their destructive episodes and then only you can restore them back to sanity. Only you can “save them.” The thing is — you can’t. Nobody can.
Despite decades of research, BPD doesn’t have a cure. There are no effective psychiatric treatments, and psychoanalysis does nothing.
Dating someone with BPD feels as close as you can get to living in hell. No, the sex is not worth it. Any guy who claims otherwise has never dated a girl with BPD. I would wish a BPD girlfriend on my worst enemy.

I had given up on Depp for a multitude of reasons but that documentary redeemed him. Legit feel bad for what he lost going through that. The trial itself was epic. Glad he had the courage to fight it but she definitely sunk her claws in deep.
Same experience. One-shotted me into fine dust. I used to be a happy, well-adjusted guy, now I’m Richard Pickman.
