A Letter to Undecided Voters
My personal politics and why Trump is the only option for a respectable future.
I assume most of my subscribers can tell I’m “right wing.” But I have no idea what that term means anymore. Many of my views were considered liberal just 20 years ago and I’m also not “traditionally conservative” in any sense. I’m old school in some ways and more libertine in others.
Out of curiosity, I listed my core philosophical and political beliefs to Grok, asked it to summarize them, then tell me which period in history I would have fit in most. Here is how it summarized my politics:
Law and Order: Strong advocate for strict enforcement of laws, particularly against violent crime and public disorder.
Sexual Freedom: Supports a society where sexual expression, particularly among those considered attractive, is freely pursued.
Pro-Choice with Limits: Believes in the right to abortion under certain circumstances like rape or incest, but not as a frequent practice.
Meritocracy: Advocates for rewarding excellence and contributions to society while punishing those who harm it.
Aesthetic Society: Strong proponent of societal norms that promote physical beauty and health.
Leadership by Exception: Subscribes to the 'Great Man Theory', where exceptional individuals should lead society.
Limited Democracy: Prefers a governance system where voting rights are restricted, perhaps based on property ownership or significant contribution to society, akin to historical precedents.
Skepticism Towards Universal Suffrage: Believes voting rights for women might not align with their nature, advocating for a more male-centric political engagement.
Selective Interventionism: Against unnecessary wars or foreign interventions unless they directly benefit the nation, supports colonialism or defensive actions.
Hard Currency: Argues for a currency system that is not infinitely expandable, advocating for something with intrinsic value or strict quantity limits.
Freedom of Speech: Believes in unrestricted speech within a meritocratic democracy to foster innovation and creativity.
Creativity and Libido: Sees a strong link between sexual energy and creative output.
That’s a pretty fair summary. And for the historical periods Grok thinks I’d fit in most:
Sparta (Classical Greece): Focus on discipline, physical excellence, and selective citizenship.
Early Roman Empire: Emphasis on strong leadership, societal order, though not on sexual freedom.
Victorian Britain (with caveats): Order, societal norms, but your views on speech, creativity, and sexuality differ.
Futurism (Early 20th Century Italy): Valuing innovation, beauty, and individual greatness, though with a technological and war-centric bent.
Bismarck's Germany: Order, state control, limited democracy, contrasting with your views on personal liberties.
Belle Époque: Values cultural richness, aestheticism, and progress, resonating with your appreciation for beauty, creativity, and elite governance.
Funny how in most time periods my views on sex would have been controversial.
Anyway, I’m not trying to naval-gaze here. The rest of this post is for anyone unsure about how they should vote or if they’re on the fence about voting at all. If you follow my X account, you can tell I’m often quite passionate about our political situation. I don’t write about politics because there’s writers with similar values who do this better than I.
If you’re interested, below is how I came to the political views that I have, starting from 9/11, to Julian Assange, to Obama II, to Trump I and the Fat Positivity/Trans Movement, to COVID and George Floyd, to Trump nearly being assassinated. I also outline what the future could entail if the Trump/Musk/Vance administration obtains power and wields it correctly.
